2016 – 2017 Season

Many wonderful experiences but sad to say goodbye to our Seniors …

Ninth Season, 66 players: 39 boys, 27 girls (87 players @ tryouts)

Welcomed a new MSB Head Coach, Reggie Chapple
3/10/2017: Welcomed our newest member to the Sabres family, Evelyn Ruth Chapple

First game, November 8th, 2016 JVG against Wilson Christian…..a great escape from the stress of the Presidential voting. Also 1st game at our new ‘backup court’ Sprott Youth Center

Sabre’s teams start season with 14-0 run (1st loss MSB to Cary Christian)

Sabres Varsity Girls set a record for most points in a half (49 points) against Dash United on 01/24/2017. They led 49-15 at half en route to a 62-17 win. Also scored 49 pts. In second half against Cary Academy Chargers on 2/9/2017.

MSG remained undefeated (26-0) and were both NCHEAC Regional and State Champions

NCHEAC Regional Tournament:
Sabres place three 1st seed teams: MSG, MSB and JVB
Two 1st place finishes, One runner-up

NCHEAC State Tournament:
Three State Champions (MSG. MSB, JVB). 1st time Sabres won 3 of the 5 NCHEAC State Titles.
JVB were 1st Sabres JVB team to win State Championship

East Coast Nationals – Lynchburg
SWS Tournament Record Combined: 20 wins, 10 loses (66% Win %)
1st Top Bracket Championship – U16 boys /JVB
4A Championship – 18U girls/VG
(3) 3pt champions – 16U boys (Joseph Dalola), 14U girls (Allie Dalola), 14U boys (Travis Shearin) (won 3 out of 6 possible titles)
(1) 3pt runner-up – 16U girls (Jacey Edwards)
MVP of 16U Division – Joseph Dalola

Senior Night Highlight:
Adriana Morgart scored season high 25pts and Gracie George scored season high 24pts against the Wilmington Cardinals on 2/10/2017. Gracie scoring personal high (6) three point baskets.
