South Wake Sabres 2025-2026 Basketball Season
The South Wake Sabres Basketball tryouts for new and returning players are scheduled to be held on Friday, September 5th and Saturday, September 6th, 2025 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. The address is 10005 Lake Wheeler Road, Fuquay-Varina, NC 27526. Invite your homeschool friends with basketball experience!
The South Wake Sabres is a highly competitive basketball program for homeschooled student-athletes who are in middle school and high school. We seek to provide our players with basketball training as well as guidance related to good character development, teamwork, and integrity in an environment centered on exemplifying behaviors and teachings of Christ as presented in the Bible.
Players should attend the tryouts by the following age brackets:
Age eligibility by team is determined as of August 1, 2025. A player must be the age listed or under after the team name. (Player selection will be based on age and skill level.)
Middle School Girls – 14U (Age bracket is 14 or under)
Middle School Boys – 13U (Age bracket is 13 or under)
Junior Varsity – 16U (Age bracket is 16 or under)
Varsity – 18U (Age bracket is 18 or under)
MANDATORY PARENT MEETING (at least one parent MUST attend):
Tuesday, August 19, 2025 from 7:00pm to 8:30pm at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church
- We encourage all Parents AND Players to attend this meeting. It is required prior to tryouts. IF you are unable to make this time, please send an email to Shawn Williams and he will coordinate an alternative way to ensure you are up to speed on season expectations. We would LOVE for players to attend, as participation in the program in many ways is a family undertaking, and we want to ensure you all hear the information, and are able to discuss the commitment prior to tryouts in early September.

If your son or daughter plans to tryout, you MUST register online. NOTE: this is a separate registration from the summer open gym. Please arrive approximately 15 minutes prior to the tryout time in order to check-in at the registration table.
Required items to be completed before tryouts:
- Player online registration is required by going to https://registration.teamsnap.com/form/29939 to complete the online player registration process prior to arriving at tryouts.
- Birth certificate for new players that have not been on a roster before. You will have an opportunity during registration to upload a picture of the birth certificate. If you do not want to do that, please bring a copy of the birth certificate to tryouts to show at the registration table.
- Mandatory Parent Meeting- must be attended by at least one parent (see scheduled times above on this tryout announcement sheet) There will be a sign in sheet.
After the end of the regular season, players are expected to participate in the very exciting Gatlinburg Homeschool Classic National Championship in Gatlinburg, Tennessee from March 9 to 13, 2026. In addition, the Varsity Girls and Varsity Boys teams may be participating in an early season tournament in Charleston, SC on November 14-15, 2025.
The Middle School Boys Developmental (MSB-Dev) team will play a shortened schedule of 14-16 games, will be non-conference for NCHEAC, and will NOT participate in any postseason tournaments, including the NCHEAC tournaments and National Championship in Gatlinburg.
